Seaweed is an all-round winner for the body. Yes. That brown, slimy stuff that you scuttle away from in the sea. Well… scuttle no more. The benefits of not only eating seaweed but also using it for the exterior body are endless. Blogger Jess Musgrove fills us in on the facts…

Seaweed has been used for centuries as a beauty and health product.

So what are the magic ingredients? Seaweed is marvellously rich in Vitamins A, C and E as well as calcium, which we all know are vital ingredients for a healthy body. As well as this there are other minerals, such as magnesium, selenium and zinc which are ideal for regenerating skin cells and tissues when seaweed is consumed as kelp powder. While bathing in Seaweed has a bundle of benefits also. Packed with antioxidants ,which the skin absorbs, it will moisturise and vita-boost your skin until it’s super smooth and glowy.  Ever wondered why Ariel from The Little Mermaid looked so great? Now you know!

Seaweed is absolutely brimming with iron. Iron is super important for feeling energised and focussed, as it helps carry oxygen all over the body. And the more oxygen we have, the more energy we have. Whilst there’s other foods out there which are full of iron, some of them are also high in something else… fat. Kelp powder and seaweed are very low in fat. If you're on a plant based diet and avoiding meats, you may be lacking in Iron. Incorporating Kelp powder in your diet is one way to get enough of those vitamins that are active in meat!

Taking sea kelp has been linked to a faster metabolism and even weight loss. If you have been struggling to get out of bed in the morning, or your work-outs are disappointing, it could be due to a sluggish thyroid gland.  Consuming Seaweed stimulates the thyroid gland due to the high iodine content, increasing your metabolism. No more half hearted work-outs, Kelp is the answer to boundless energy and maintaining a healthy body weight.

Quite often you discover a product and worry about the ethics and sustainability of it, but feel piece of mind and calmness as you soak in the serenity of a seaweed bath. The seaweed that we harvest, is hand harvested in a way that the seaweed can grow explosively back in abundance. It's also harvested just off the coast of Ireland and therefore very local.

So what are you waiting for?
